Railroad Retirement Benefits
Created in the 1930s, the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) is a government agency that serves railroad workers and their families, administering retirement, survivor, unemployment, and sickness benefits. Railroad workers do not pay money into social security and thus do not receive any Social Security benefits.
Note that if the only income you received over the course of the year was railroad retirement benefits, your benefits may not be taxable and you may not have to file a tax return.
