Why can’t I e-file using your tax program?
You can always e-file your current year return with PriorTax. The IRS closes e-filing for current year taxes on October 15 of the following year. For example, the last chance to e-file 2011 taxes is October 15, 2012. Note, the tax deadline is April 17. You need an extension to file after this date without incurring penalties.
Unfortunately, the IRS does not accept any e-filed prior year returns. All prior year returns have to be paper filed and mailed in to the IRS. This is true not just of PriorTax but across the board, at every tax preparation company.
